The 47th German American Football Championship was a hard-fought battle from the opening drive. Both offenses struggled early, with defenses on both sides forcing repeated three-and-outs. Dresden's Rocky Lombardi and Potsdam's Hugh Harvey were kept under pressure throughout the first quarter, until an errant Harvey pass was picked off by Logan Mobelini — giving the Monarchs their first opportunity.
Dresden struck first in the second quarter when Lombardi punched it in on a short-run, with Florian Finke converting the extra point for a 7-0 lead. Potsdam responded quickly, drawing a pass interference penalty before Chrisman Kyei rushed in to make it 6-7. A failed two-point conversion kept Dresden ahead by a single point. Running back Tofunmi Lala then took over, ripping off back-to-back carries to push the lead to 13-6 before Finke added another PAT. Harvey struggled to find rhythm in the final minutes of the half, leaving Dresden with a 14-7 halftime advantage.
The third quarter saw slippery turf slow both teams down. Finke extended the lead with a field goal to make it 17-6. Potsdam clawed back through Harvey, who found tight end Corvey Jeeves before sneaking in himself on fourth down to cut it to 17-12. Dresden answered immediately — Lombardi hit tight end Ethan Janto up the middle, Finke added the PAT, and suddenly it was 24-12.
The fourth quarter came alive. Milan Spiller hauled in a touchdown catch to narrow it to 24-19, before a Sebastian Huber fumble recovery handed momentum back to Dresden. Lala drove deep into Potsdam territory, Lombardi picked up more yards on a run but left the game with an injury. Finke drilled another field goal to make it 27-19. Potsdam made one last push — Maximilian McLeod and Spiller moved the chains — but Harvey threw two incompletions and an interception in the final 22 seconds to seal the game. Dresden kneeled it out and were crowned the 47th German Football Champions.
